So what is Mazda Apple CarPlay? Apple CarPlay is software within your iPhone that enables you to connect to your radio or head unit, mirroring your phone with the ability to use compatible apps on your vehicle’s infotainment system. It can be connected with your typical phone charging lightning cable by plugging in the USB port or wirelessly with Bluetooth if your vehicle has the capability. What are the Requirements for Apple CarPlay?

There are some basic requirements to make Mazda Apple CarPlay work in your vehicle. First and foremost, your vehicle will need to have Apple CarPlay capability. All equipped vehicles should have the ability to connect to Apple CarPlay via charging cable to USB, others will have the ability to connect wirelessly with Bluetooth. Check your vehicle’s Owner Manual to see if your vehicle has wireless capability. The minimum requirement for Apple CarPlay is an iPhone 5 with iOS 7.1 or later. Make sure your iPhone is up to date with the latest version of iOS (Apple iPhone Operating System). This can be done by going to Settings > General > Software Update.
